Job Summary
Supervises telephony operations staff responsible for maintenance of the Authority's telecommunication systems, networks, and devices. Assigns work for inspection, maintenance, reliability, and repair of critical life safety equipment. Ensures voice/data systems comply with codes, regulations, and standards while monitoring performance to mitigate risks and prevent downtime. Conducts inspections of assigned activities, troubleshoots complex installations, and coordinates with Technology Infrastructure and Production units. Develops plans to improve service quality, implements safety and training programs, and monitors technician performance. Assists in budget control and makes hiring or termination recommendations. Executes collective bargaining agreement requirements. Performs work affecting business operations to a substantial degree.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, technology or closely related field
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience utilized in a transit system environment
- Demonstrated experience and application of various types of test equipment associated with the service/maintenance and repair of telephone systems (CISCO voice applications, Call Manager, Unity and Harmony Voice Recorder)
- Experience with public address systems (IP7-PA Announcement and Signpost)
- Experience with SONET systems, fiber optic networks, and large telephone switch technologies utilized in the telecommunication industry
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good analytical skills
- Directly related experience may be substituted on a year for year basis in lieu of a degree

- Experience in a transit system environment highly desirable
