Job Summary
Supportive Neighbour (SN) contracts to provide on-call in-home supports to an adult with a developmental disability in the South Calgary/Okotoks area. Responsibilities include home maintenance, grocery shopping, medical appointments, reminders, community inclusion, and advocacy, aligned to the client’s ISP goals. The SN works as a contractor and must reside within an acceptable distance of the client to ensure timely contact, with flexibility required for ongoing needs. Must have or obtain current First Aid/CPR/AED, a satisfactory police vulnerable sectors check, a valid driver’s license, and access to a vehicle (asset). The role emphasizes disability advocacy, person-centred supports, and ensuring safety and timely response in emergency situations. Location options include Okotoks, AB and Calgary, AB with in-person remote arrangement; No benefits as a contractor, and tax reporting via T4A. The posting closes June 18, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- A vehicle and valid driver's license is considered an asset
- A current police information check with a vulnerable sectors search that is satisfactory to CASS
- Maintains and utilizes current Emergency or Standard First Aid that includes CPR/AED
- Experience in supporting adults with developmental disabilities preferred
- Diploma or equivalent experience in Disability Studies
