Job Summary
FUSE Executive Fellow embedded with the California Department of Conservation to design and implement a $50 million statewide biomass utilization grant program, conduct landscape analyses, stakeholder listening tours, and develop an inclusive grant framework that supports climate resilience, rural economic development, and regenerative agricultural uses. Responsibilities include engagement with public, private, tribal, and nonprofit partners; development of solicitation materials, guidelines, and evaluation criteria; building coalitions to advance project implementation; and creating long-term sustainability, monitoring, and evaluation tools. The role emphasizes data analytics, strategic planning, operations modeling, change management, and cross‐agency collaboration to advance end uses for forest biomass (including mass timber) and associated economic opportunities. Prospective deliverables include defining program goals, equity-focused access strategies, and scalable implementation plans, with ongoing support and training to achieve outcomes across state agencies and communities. QUALIFICATIONS describe synthesizing information, program design, data-driven problem solving, stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and diplomacy. LOCATION-Specific responsibilities entail working with DOC and interagency partners to ensure alignment with state priorities and to drive climate resilience and rural development through biomass utilization.
