Job Summary
Assess strengths and needs of individuals in the program by directly observing and teaching skills such as housekeeping, shopping, transportation, budgeting, medication management, and leisure planning. Implement treatment plans with the Treatment Team to restore functioning in key life roles and build working relationships by maintaining regular contact with consumers and reporting unusual events. Assist consumers in accessing community resources for recreational, work, and medical needs while visiting them at programs or residences as scheduled. Mentor consumers in role recovery activities including symptom management, relapse prevention, stress reduction, and work readiness. Transport and teach consumers to use public transportation to support their independence. Document all consumer and program activities. This part-time role requires a current consumer of mental health services, a valid Florida driver's license, and knowledge of the Recovery Model and crisis intervention.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED equivalency
- Six months of responsible work experience, preferably involving interactions with the public
- Knowledge of Recovery Model
- Knowledge of counseling techniques
- Knowledge of verbal crisis intervention
- Knowledge of mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders
- Must be a consumer of mental health services as defined by the Agency
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Must pass a Level 2 background check
- Must pass a drug screen
- Own transportation vehicle and insurance preferred
