Job Summary
Conduct night-time care and safety monitoring for students with additional support needs at Linn Moor Campus, ensuring they remain awake and alert during shifts from 10pm to 8am. Manage health and safety protocols, including medication administration, visual and audio surveillance, and responding to medical conditions like epilepsy or diabetes. Support physical care needs such as toileting and extended feeding techniques while maintaining clean living environments. Implement and evaluate night-time learning programmes, assist with sensory navigation, and de-escalate challenging behaviour through therapeutic interventions. Update statutory records and contribute to the 24-hour curriculum implementation. Work a 4 on, 4 off rolling roster with access to a staff bus for transport.
Required Qualifications
- PVG Scheme clearance
- Ability to engage/relate to young adults with autism or learning difficulties
- Ability to deal with complex and challenging behaviour
- Effective communication skills
- Experience of working with young adults with autism / learning difficulties
- Ability to work night shift or waking nights
- Ability to work lone
- Knowledge of medication administration
- Knowledge of child protection policies and procedures
- Knowledge of health and safety measures
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures for supporting students to maximise self care skills
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures for supporting students with sensory difficulties
- Knowledge of specified procedures for extended feeding techniques
- Knowledge of health and safety measures for extended feeding techniques
- Knowledge of specific medical conditions such as epilepsy and diabetes
- Training to act in a manner which will provide the best support for students with medical conditions
- Capability to ensure students remain awake and alert for the duration of their shift
- Capability to provide continual observation of visual and audio monitors during the night
- Capability to follow training regarding acting in a manner which will provide the best support for students
