Job Summary
The Support Worker provides daily living support to tenants in a supportive housing setting, promoting independence and community connections. Responsibilities include collaborating with housing, maintenance, janitorial, and kitchen staff to deliver direct tenant support, reporting safety concerns, and contributing to a respectful, team-based environment. Must assist during medical emergencies and crises, adhere to emergency response protocols, maintain client confidentiality, and participate in a culturally safe, inclusive workplace. The role involves 12-hour day/night shifts, navigating stairs, and handling industrial cleaning products; physical lifting up to 50 lbs may be required. The position requires knowledge of Housing First and harm reduction, strong communication and active listening, and the ability to document ethically and professionally.
Required Qualifications
- High school completion required
- 1 Year Employment Experience
- Knowledge of the Housing First model and harm reduction practices
- Familiarity with mental health, addiction services, and community resources
- Successful Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check required
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain client confidentiality
- Demonstrates professional boundaries
- Demonstrates understanding of emergency response protocol
- Ability to remain calm and responsive during crisis incident response
- 12-hour day and night shifts in a fast-paced supportive housing environment
- Regularly navigates stairs and uses industrial cleaning products and equipment
- Safely lifts up to 50lbs
