Support Worker - Social Housing Services

Job Summary
Support vulnerable people to access safe, affordable accommodation using the Housing First approach, empowering them with skills, confidence, and connections to sustain housing and achieve long-term goals. Build positive, trusting relationships with clients, their whānau, and community support resources while connecting individuals to family or family of choice. Deliver culturally appropriate social services, including kaupapa Māori services, and possess a compassionate, non-judgmental attitude to support and motivate people toward their goals. Work rotating AM/PM or night shifts across South, West, and Central Auckland sites, Monday to Sunday, with 24/7 coverage at the Central site. All applicants must hold New Zealand residency, a full clean driver's licence, and a clean police record.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with tāngata and their whānau.
- Relevant qualification (or working towards one) in Social Services and/or Mental Health and Addictions Support.
- Ability to support and motivate people to achieve their goals.
- Possess a compassionate and non-judgmental attitude.
- Practical life skills and knowledge to connect people with community support resources and whānau/family/family of choice.
- All applicants must have New Zealand Residency
- a full and clean driver's licence
- and a clean police record
Desired Qualifications
- Ideally, you will have had experience supporting homeless people
- a good understanding of culturally appropriate delivery of social services, including kaupapa Māori services
- Ideally, you will have some proficiency in Te Reo Māori
- knowledge of tikanga Māori
