Support Worker - Kununurra Withdrawal Intervention Centre (KWIC)

Job Summary

Provide a safe, healthy, and culturally secure environment for residents at the Kununurra Withdrawal Intervention Centre through 24-hour supervision and daily visual observations. Maintain a visible presence during shifts to support residents, supervise activities, and assist with medication management and record-keeping. Promote pro-health choices regarding sleep, tobacco, and diet while ensuring the unit remains clean and tidy. Prepare facilities for new admissions and provide accurate verbal and written handovers to the team at the end of each shift. Work across all shifts to support the Multi-Disciplinary Team in helping residents recover from alcohol and other drugs.

Required Qualifications

  • A genuine passion for helping others through challenging times
  • Previous experience within a service environment and empathy for people
  • Strong interpersonal skills to negotiate, mediate and resolve conflict
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (not older than 6 months)
  • Current Australian unrestricted 'C' class Driver's license
  • Current CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Desired Qualifications

  • Lived experience
  • Training in or experience with alcohol and other drug services
  • Aboriginal Australian
  • A strong understanding of Indigenous people in general and/or the remote communities of the Kimberley's
