Job Summary
Support Worker at the iOAT Clinic provides non-clinical support to participants, assisting with daily routines, offering harm reduction information, and fostering a safe, trauma-informed environment. Works 35 hours/week (9:00–16:30), rotating schedule, at the New Roots Clinic in Powell River, BC. Requires high school completion and experience in social services or related fields; knowledge of overdose response, naloxone, de-escalation, and community resources; ability to document and support client care, maintain safety, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team. Temporary, 6-month assignment, hourly wage CAD 29.76–31.64.
Required Qualifications
- High school completion
- Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance
- Experience in social services, community health, harm reduction, or related field
- Familiarity with mental health, addiction services, and community resources
- Understanding of trauma-informed, harm reduction, and culturally safe practices
- Ability to de-escalate conflict in a non-violent manner
- Knowledge of overdose response, naloxone administration, and emergency protocols
