Support Worker - East Lothian

Job Summary

Provide support that positively impacts the person we support's health and wellbeing by contributing to and implementing support plans. Deliver all support and its administration, including personal care, tenancy support, health needs such as medication assistance, personal development, emotional needs, and inclusion. Work with young people and adults aged 16+ who have learning disabilities, brain injuries, or mental health conditions to help them achieve ambitions and live independently at home or in the community. Shift work and weekend work may be required, with hours ranging from 25 hours per week up to 24/7 coverage. Full training and support are provided for candidates without prior experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Qualified to the level required by the SSSC as a support worker in a housing support service and care at home service, or a willingness to work towards and to successfully complete qualification within the SSSC specified timeframe
  • PVG scheme membership
  • SSSC registration
  • Evidence of eligibility to work in the UK
  • Full-Time (36 hours/week) – Driver & access to car required (Female only)
  • Full-Time (36 hours/week) – Driver & access to car required
  • Full-Time (36 hours/week) - 6-month temporary role
  • Part-Time (27 hours/week) – 6-month maternity cover
  • Shift work
  • Weekend work

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a support role
  • Empathetic and Patient
  • Compassionate
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
  • Ability to engage in continuous development, including formal learning
  • A practice qualification (at least SCQF level 7 or above) recognised by the SSSC, in the category of support workers in a Housing Support Service / Care at Home service, or willingness to work towards this
  • Understanding of benefits and budgeting support
  • Previous demonstrable experience working within an adult social care setting
  • Understanding of the Care Inspectorate and its purpose
  • Understanding of the SSSC and its purpose
  • Ability to drive due to rural outreach locations
  • A Positive Behaviour Support, or Trauma Informed Practice qualification or accreditation
