Job Summary
Provide front-line support to staff, residents and community in a professional, safety-driven manner. Responsibilities include answering the main switchboard and directing calls, monitoring security cameras, handling cash receipts and data-entry, conducting rounds for safety, assisting clients and staff with information and referrals, ensuring facility rules are understood and followed, resolving situations calmly, preparing occurrence reports, and participating in meetings and trainings to enhance program development. Requires flexible availability across day, evening, overnight, weekend and holiday shifts; strong interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and ability to manage stressful situations. Qualifications include Grade 12, First Aid/CPR, experience in shelter/hospitality/security, and ability to undergo background checks; training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is desired.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or the equivalent
- Current First Aid/CPR training
- Willingness for Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
- Experience in shelter, security and/or hospitality industries
- Proven ability to handle and record cash transactions
- Ability to submit to enhanced security screening
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Confidentiality and privacy adherence
- Ability to lift 30 lbs
- Background checks satisfactory to The Salvation Army (including Abuse Registry)
