Support Care Worker – Hospital Overflow Program (Friday-Tuesday)

Job Summary

Greet, orient, and register clients arriving at Haven Toronto for safe overnight rest, conducting general assessments of physical and mental well-being. Coordinate referrals, schedule appointments, and facilitate access to on-site services including meals, laundry, and recreational spaces. Document client interactions, needs, and incident reports while maintaining a safe environment by performing security checks and stocking supplies. Provide crisis intervention, administer first aid, and support volunteer coordination as needed. Work within a multidisciplinary team to assist individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use, and complex social needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Social Services, Addictions, Recreation, or Mental Health
  • Demonstrated awareness of issues related to aging, homelessness, addictions, mental health, harm reduction, and food and income insecurity
  • Demonstrated skills at working respectfully and constructively dealing with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working within a trauma-informed and anti-oppression framework
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience in creatively engaging older economically marginalized people
  • Valid First Aid and CPR qualifications

  • Knowledge of downtown Toronto social resources
