Supply Quality Engineer

Job Summary
Conduct deep-dive on-site audits of supplier facilities to evaluate Quality Management Systems and technical manufacturing capabilities. Manage supplier scorecards, issue formal Supplier Improvement Plans for "Red" status vendors, and translate critical-to-quality dimensions for new product introductions. Execute process validation by reviewing pFMEA, Process Control Plans, and Gage R&R studies. Serve as the first responder for non-conformances, leading Material Review Board evaluations and demanding root cause analysis via 8D reports. Oversee Engineering Change and Process Change Notifications to ensure seamless inventory cutovers and re-qualifications. Lead First Article Inspection approvals, verify dimensional layouts against golden samples, and resolve FAI discrepancies by collaborating with engineering or modifying supplier tooling.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in supplier development, quality engineering, or supply chain roles in high-tech manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949), and regulatory compliance
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP, and FMEA
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and supplier management tools
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 50%-60%)
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Background in semiconductor, automation, or precision manufacturing industries
- Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt)
- Experience working with global suppliers, especially in Asia
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, electronics, plastics)
- Familiarity with quality systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA)
- Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Certifications (Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) ISO Lead Auditor)
