Job Summary
Support full- and part-time staff at assigned childcare centres by establishing goals, planning, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the How Does Learning Happen framework. Maintain a safe, nurturing environment for children while fostering professional relationships with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty. Work independently with minimal supervision, adapting to on-call capacity and flexible scheduling across multiple locations in the Hamilton area. Availability includes Monday to Friday shifts from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a minimum commitment of three days per week.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1-year experience working directly with children
- Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Up-to-date immunization for TB, Tetanus, and MMR
- Availability to work a minimum of 3 days per week, Monday to Friday, within the 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM time frame
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, flexible environment with minimal supervision
- Flexibility and adaptability to be assigned in multiple locations, with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work in an on-call capacity with flexible scheduling
Desired Qualifications
- related experience in a childcare setting, working with school-age children
- Diploma in a field related to childcare such as Early Childhood Education
- A Diploma in Child & Youth Worker, Child and Youth Care, OCT, Education Assistant, Social Worker, or Recreation & Leisure
- Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs)
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Education's How Does Learning Happen framework
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
