Job Summary
Supply Chain Planner/Buyer at N.A. Trading Company (Commerce, CA) will develop and manage demand forecasts, align supply plans, and optimize inventory across the distribution network. You will balance service levels, inventory investment, and operational efficiency by partnering with Sales, Operations, and Finance, while coordinating with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure on-time replenishment of imported products. Key duties include building and maintaining demand forecasts, analyzing forecast accuracy and variance drivers, translating forecasts into actionable supply plans, monitoring inventory targets and aging, tracking KPIs (forecast accuracy, service levels, inventory turns, fill rate, days of supply), ensuring data integrity in ERP/planning systems, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Required skills include advanced Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and familiarity with SQL or BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), experience with ERP/planning systems (e.g., SAP, Dynamics 365, JDA, Logility), and strong cross-functional communication. Education and experience align with a Bachelor’s degree and 3–7 years in supply chain planning or inventory management; food-distribution/import experience strongly preferred and APICS/ASCM or Lean/Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Economics, Statistics, or related field
- 3–7 years of experience in supply chain planning, demand planning, or inventory management
- Experience in food distribution or import-based supply chains strongly preferred
- Certifications (Preferred): APICS/ASCM (CPIM, CSCP), Lean, Six Sigma, or similar
- Continuous Improvement: Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus
