Job Summary
Oversee day-to-day operations of the materials department, including shipping, receiving, and inventory control. Supervise forklift drivers, clerks, and direct truck traffic to ensure efficient material handling and safe loading/unloading. Manage raw materials scheduling to meet production requirements while maintaining accurate stock levels. Lead a team of Materials Specialists, providing mentorship on safety protocols, lean initiatives, and 5S standards. Coordinate with customers and suppliers regarding delivery schedules and resolve operational issues. Perform daily cross-functional tasks and provide after-hours support as needed to ensure continuous operations.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of directly related experience in materials management or supply chain operations
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, logistics, or materials management environment
- Experience overseeing forklift operations, truck traffic coordination, and inventory management
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a diverse team of materials specialists, forklift operators, and clerks
- Proven ability to manage the logistics of shipping and receiving functions
- Must be able to stand or sit for 8-12 hours a day
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
- Must be able to move and operate materials with a forklift
- Must be able to assist with loading/unloading tasks
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection and other task-specific safety equipment
- Must be available for after-hours and weekend support as required
Desired Qualifications
- A BS/BA degree
- Familiarity with QAD, OEM systems, and AS400
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Excellent organizational, time management, and priority-setting skills
- Ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, and ensure accuracy in inventory management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a focus on safety and efficiency
