Supplier Quality Engineer - Manufacturing

Job Summary

Own day-to-day supplier quality management for the site's critical/major-tier suppliers, including electronic components, PCBA, and electromechanical assemblies. Lead containment, root cause investigation, and corrective action for supplier-related nonconformances, with particular attention to electrical and electronic failure modes. Execute the site's risk-based supplier audit plan, including on-site and remote audits of electronics and EMS suppliers. Support New Product Introduction by qualifying new component and contract manufacturing suppliers, including review of first-article inspection and electrical test data. Partner with Manufacturing, Test Engineering, and Procurement to resolve component and supplier-driven quality issues affecting production.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Component/Manufacturing Engineering, with direct exposure to electronic or electromechanical components or assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes (e.g., SMT, PCBA, soldering standards such as IPC-A-610/J-STD-001) and ability to interpret electrical schematics, test reports, and component datasheets.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, fishbone) for supplier-related nonconformances, including component-level failures.
  • Experience supporting or leading supplier audits, including EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) or component suppliers.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Manufacturing, Test Engineering, Procurement, and Design Engineering.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience qualifying or auditing contract manufacturers for electronic subassemblies or finished electronic medical devices.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP).
  • Experience with electrical test equipment and data (e.g., ICT, functional test, boundary scan) as applied to supplier quality investigations.
