Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary
Manage supplier quality activities across nominated suppliers from initial assessment through APQP, PPAP approval, and production readiness. Conduct audits including initial, surveillance, and process reviews while acting as the main quality signatory for new suppliers. Lead problem-solving using 8D, Ishikawa, and 5 Why tools to resolve non-conformances and drive corrective actions. Support New Product Introduction by managing DFMEA/PFMEA activities and ensuring measurement strategies align with engineering requirements. Collect and report supplier quality KPI data while collaborating with Engineering, Supply Chain, and internal Quality teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement initiatives. Travel to UK and overseas suppliers as required.
Required Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
- willingness to travel to UK and overseas suppliers
- Right to Work in the UK
- Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP and FMEA
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016
- Knowledge or experience of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2015
- Knowledge and/or experience of metrology, inspection methods and measuring equipment
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
- Knowledge and experience of manufacturing processes used within the automotive industry
- Able to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic environment, planning and prioritising workload to meet business requirements
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge suppliers and internal stakeholders when required
- Able to compile, analyse and present data effectively
- Strong presentation skills and confidence communicating technical information
- Organised, persuasive, resourceful and flexible, with the ambition and self-direction to deliver objectives
- Comfortable challenging existing processes and driving continuous improvement
- Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to operate confidently at all levels of the business, from shopfloor teams through to senior leadership
- Collaborative team player with a proactive and solutions-focused approach
Desired Qualifications
- AIAG Core Tools training or certification
- Experience within the automotive industry or complex manufacturing environments
- Experience managing supplier quality within NPI and production environments
- Practical experience of Lean, Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with metrology, measurement systems and inspection processes
- Experience working with low-volume, high-value or technically complex products
