Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary

Conduct initial and periodic supplier quality audits to ensure compliance with company standards, communicating regularly to address concerns and foster continual improvement. Maintain performance evaluation documentation, track supplier indicators with Procurement teams, and analyze data to create SCARS and follow the 8D process for timely responses. Assist warehouse inspectors on packaging and receiving issues, develop Inspection Test Plans for subcontracted scopes, and participate in DFMEA/PFMEA discussions. Analyze non-conformance data to highlight trending issues and resolve corrective actions, while staying abreast of relevant standards and regulations. This role requires a Bachelor's degree, ASQ certifications, and 10+ years in quality auditing with flexibility for travel. Flexible schedule and ability to travel for extended periods if needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited four-year program
  • 10 years + in Quality Auditing with focus on Supply Chain
  • 10 years + in Nonconformance and Corrective Action investigations
  • 10 years + in Supplier Performance Monitoring Tools
  • 10 years + in Supplier Development and Improvement Practices
  • 5 years in Risk Identification and Mitigation
  • 5 years in Welding and fabrication techniques
  • 5 years in Mechanical & Electrical installation practices
  • Flexible schedule
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time if needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly autonomous and self-assigning
  • Can work and maintain communication with multiple teams simultaneously
  • Can tactfully follow up on action items of others
  • Can elicit feedback from others in a positive way
  • Excellent auditing practices
  • Advanced presentation skills using Microsoft Office Suite and other software packages
  • Expert in multiple root cause and corrective action investigation techniques (5 Why, Fishbone, Change/Event analysis, etc.)
  • Intermediate with common industrial manufacturing processes (raw material processing, welding, coating, assembly, etc.)
  • Intermediate in Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods
  • Excellent in Quality data analytics and interpretation
  • Intermediate in Engineering design principles and design philosophies
  • Basic understanding of metrology and measuring devices and principles
  • Basic understanding of metallurgical principles (MTRs, basic ASTM interpretation of materials, testing to include tensile, Charpy and micro-etch)
  • ASQ certification in Quality Engineering (Or approved equivalent)
  • ASQ certification in Root Cause Analysis (Or approved equivalent)
  • ASQ certification in Internal Auditing (Or approved equivalent)
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
  • Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in quality engineering from an accredited four-year program
  • Certified ASQ Quality Auditor is a plus
  • Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt is a plus
  • Knowledge of new technologies and their application (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, etc.)
