Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary

Conduct supplier qualification and development activities, including audits, process reviews, and non-conformance management for assigned suppliers. Support approval of first articles and production batches while verifying quality improvement programs for underperforming vendors. Manage Key Performance Indicators, analyze root causes, and drive corrective actions with vendors to ensure regulatory compliance. Liaise with Category Management, Purchasing, Engineering, and Project teams to review pre-purchase orders and attend weekly supplier calls. Report to the Global Sourcing team on-site Monday through Friday in Houston.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree, ideally in Engineering
  • 3-10+ years experience, including direct supplier quality and external audit experience
  • Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, and specifications
  • Must be technically knowledgeable and capable of understanding engineering and quality concepts
  • Basic knowledge of auditing, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies such as ISO9001 & API Q1, Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, Six Sigma, SPC, Kaizen and process mapping
  • Proficiency using monitoring and measurement equipment to provide evidence of product conformity
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all organizational levels, both internally and with the supply base
  • Outstanding time management and follow-through skills
  • The ability to multitask and learn independently in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to achieve goals independently and contribute as a team player
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment
  • A CIPS, CPM or APICS certification is helpful but not required

Desired Qualifications

  • Machining or valve manufacturing experience preferred
  • ASQ CQE or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in total quality, Six Sigma, or other similar systems
  • SAP knowledge and experience preferred
