Job Summary
Develop and implement supplier quality improvement programs while conducting audits to ensure compliance with standards. Investigate non-conformances, collaborate with engineering teams on new product development requirements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor key performance metrics, approve PPAP submissions, and provide technical guidance to suppliers on quality matters. This role supports multiple manufacturing partners in the Battle Creek area, focusing on long-term fit and alignment within the West Michigan region.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field
- 3+ years experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and tools (e.g., PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC)
- Proven experience conducting supplier audits and driving corrective actions
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- GD&T proficiency
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for supplier collaboration and internal stakeholder management
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with advanced quality planning (AQP) tools such as PPAP, APQP, and FMEA
- ASQ certifications (e.g., CQE, CSSGB, CSQP)
- Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
- Ability to speak a second language relevant to the global supply chain (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish, German)
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and quality management software
