Job Summary
Identify, pursue, and onboard new suppliers to expand category coverage and revenue while negotiating core commercial terms like pricing and minimum order quantities. Build a focused pipeline of high-conversion opportunities by attending industry events and trade shows to strengthen personal networks and uncover deal-worthy relationships. Own both supplier and buyer connections to drive quote-to-order conversion, actively presenting competitive options and structuring deals that generate margin. Collect technical and compliance information to ensure suppliers meet buyer requirements for certifications like Organic and GFSI, then track pricing and availability to inform expansion decisions. This hands-on, high-ownership role supports the Commercial (Growth) team at Opply, a VC-backed startup modernizing ingredient sourcing for scaling food and consumer goods brands.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years in a commercial role - sales, business development, partnerships, account management, or commercial operations
- A track record of building relationships and chasing down opportunities
- Strong commercial instincts: a feel for pricing, margins and negotiation
- A nose for which opportunities are worth pursuing
- Comfortable carrying targets and managing multiple supplier and buyer conversations at once in a fast-moving environment
- A clear, confident communicator who builds trust with external partners quickly
