Supplier Development Quality Engineer (China)

Job Summary

Partner with suppliers to implement and improve manufacturing processes, quality systems, and capacity expansion for tooling, plastic injection molding, and precision metal components. Lead tool, process, and new machine qualification approvals, including First Article Inspection and capability studies, while reviewing and approving tooling designs. Perform supplier audits, establish quality standards, and track performance using KPIs to ensure timely resolution of nonconformances. Drive APQP and PPAP activities from prototype through production, investigate root causes of quality issues, and lead continuous improvement initiatives at supplier sites. Support new product introductions by coordinating with engineering and supply chain teams to meet specifications and timelines. This role requires a 40-hour week, based in Zhuhai, China, with up to 50% travel, and is open to candidates with a bachelor's degree and 10+ years in supplier quality or manufacturing engineering.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality management, or a related field
  • Advanced degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supplier quality or manufacturing engineering
  • Focus on plastics and metal components
  • Strong working knowledge of injection molding
  • Strong working knowledge of plastic part design
  • Strong working knowledge of tool fabrication
  • Strong working knowledge of metal manufacturing methods
  • Experience with product testing methodologies
  • Experience with statistical analysis
  • Experience with root cause analysis techniques
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex quality issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience in driving FATP process
  • Quality management certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt)
