Supplier Base Engineer – Liquid Cooling Contamination Control

Job Summary

Define contamination control and fluid cleanliness standards for liquid cooling components, including cold plates, manifolds, and connectors. Develop and validate inspection methods using optical inspection, microscopy, and particle counting to detect debris greater than 50 microns. Establish cleanliness criteria, sampling plans, and filtration methods to support new product introduction and high-volume manufacturing. Lead root cause investigations for contamination-related failures and drive supplier qualification, process audits, and ongoing improvement efforts. Collaborate with mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, and global suppliers to identify contamination sources and develop prevention controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in contamination control, manufacturing engineering, fluid systems, precision assembly, or high-reliability product development
  • Experience developing contamination prevention strategies, cleanliness specifications, and inspection methodologies for manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience with particle detection and cleanliness assessment techniques, including optical inspection, microscopy, particle counting, image analysis, or fluid cleanliness testing
  • Experience validating inspection systems using GR&R, correlation studies, process capability analysis, and false reject/escape analysis
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, and operations groups
  • Experience handling liquid cooling systems, including cold plates, coolant loops, manifolds, filtration, and coolant distribution architectures
  • Knowledge of contamination control, technical cleanliness standards (e.g., ISO 16232, VDA 19/19.1), precision cleaning processes, and particulate cleanliness measurement
  • Experience supporting supplier process qualification, manufacturing readiness, and high-volume production
  • Understanding of coolant chemistry, filtration techniques, corrosion mechanisms, and material compatibility in liquid cooling systems
  • Experience developing automated inspection solutions for contamination detection in precision manufacturing environments
