Job Summary
Administer medical gases, medications, and aerosols for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes while performing patient assessments and interpreting arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests, and chest x-rays. Provide expert respiratory advice to physicians and staff, document treatment evaluations, and lead advanced patient education efforts. Serve as a resource to RCP I and II staff, mentor less experienced colleagues, and actively participate in departmental operations. Ensure safe care by adhering to Memorial Hermann policies, managing supplies within budget, and maintaining current competency through continuing education. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and prolonged standing required.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
- Current Respiratory Care Practitioner License or Temporary Respiratory Care Practitioner License
- Basic Life Support Certification
- The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors and observe physical characteristics
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years ICU experience
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Pediatric experience
- Two (2) of the following: ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPFT, RPFT, RPSGT, Asthma Certified Educator, NRP Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor, or BLS Instructor
- Two (2) years of critical care experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills
