Job Summary
Administer medical gases, medications, and aerosols for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes while evaluating treatment and taking appropriate action. Perform patient assessments, interpret arterial blood gases, pulmonary function testing, and chest x-rays as indicated. Provide expert respiratory advice and recommendations to physicians and staff, and participate in advanced patient education and departmental operations. Serve as a resource to RCP I and RCP II staff, mentoring less experienced colleagues and supporting preceptorship efforts. Maintain current competency through continuing education and journal review while adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
- Current Respiratory Care Practitioner License or Temporary Respiratory Care Practitioner License
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Bachelor's degree
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors and observe physical characteristics
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ years ICU experience
- RRT
- Pediatric experience
- Two (2) of the following: ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPFT, RPFT, RPSGT, Asthma Certified Educator, NRP Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor, or BLS Instructor
- Two (2) years of critical care experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills
