Job Summary
Supervise daily warehouse operations at the Capital Area Food Bank's DC Distribution Center, coordinating receiving, put-away, replenishment, order picking, packing, shipping, and agency pickup activities. Lead and coach warehouse associates to achieve productivity, safety, and quality expectations while monitoring daily workflow, labor allocation, and staffing assignments. Conduct startup meetings, floor walks, and end-of-shift reviews to communicate priorities and address operational issues, ensuring compliance with OSHA, food safety, and GMP regulations. Partner with cross-functional teams including Inventory, Transportation, Facilities, and Volunteer Services to support seamless execution and continuous improvement initiatives. Review and approve employee timecards, develop daily staffing plans, and maintain accurate operational reports and KPI dashboards. Report to the Senior Manager of Operations with a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience
- At least one (1) year in a supervisory or people leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, and motivate high-performing teams
- Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory control processes, and warehouse operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams) and warehouse reporting tools
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and warehouse safety best practices
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in varying warehouse environments, including refrigerated and freezer areas
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or extended hours
- Ability to safely operate or become certified to operate material handling equipment (forklift, electric pallet jack, reach truck, etc.)
- Ability to climb ladders and safely access elevated storage locations
- Visual ability to read labels, product information, computer screens, and warehouse documentation
- Ability to distinguish colors and product markings
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a busy warehouse environment
- Ability to wear and properly utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to become certified to operate material handling equipment (forklift, electric pallet jack, reach truck, etc.) and train others
