Job Summary
Lead the day-to-day implementation of trauma-informed peer programming to address behavioral health and wellness needs in Philadelphia's immigrant, refugee, and high-gun-violence communities. Provide supportive supervision, coaching, and trauma-informed guidance to certified peer specialists, recovery specialists, community health workers, and peer ambassadors. Oversee community outreach, data analysis, and stakeholder relationships with city agencies and behavioral health providers while developing program proposals and managing budgets. Facilitate Wellness Recovery Action Plan sessions, model advocacy for peer roles, and establish safety protocols for the team. Work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends in diverse neighborhood settings to maintain community connections and ensure culturally responsive service delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree of Social Work or related field
- Four (4) years of experience in behavioral health or related field
- Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience
- Familiarity with Philadelphia behavioral health system, continuum, and levels of care
- Experience working with communities impacted by trauma
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Chinese) preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Master of Social Work, Public Health, or related field
- Knowledgeable of trauma informed systems of care related to gun violence, and immigrant and refugee communities
- Knowledgeable of behavioral health systems, peer culture in Philadelphia, and the Peer Support Toolkit
- Knowledgeable of core peer roles and values identified in: National Ethical Guidelines and Practice Standards/National Practice Guidelines for Peer Supporters. International Association of Peer Supporters (iNAPS).
- Knowledgeable of core peer roles and values identified in: Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Core Competencies for Peer Workers in Behavioral Health Services.
- Excellent supervisory skills, including ability to motivate and inspire staff
- Ability to foster collaboration, build consensus, inspire a shared vision, and support peer staff in community-facing outreach settings
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of individuals and organizations
- Ability to interact with staff and people at all levels in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work well independently and within a team
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor field-based community engagement, peer outreach, warm handoffs, and follow-up activities
- Understands and executes duties with minimal direction
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Zoom
- Keen awareness of political and community concerns related to safety, trauma and the ability to address them appropriately at the community level
