Job Summary
Supervise daily activities of Tool & Die Makers and Apprentices while designing, constructing, and maintaining tooling, fixtures, and equipment. Ensure quality standards are met, coordinate supplier activities to minimize production downtime, and manage inventory for purchased and consumable items. Lead the Preventative Maintenance Program for all dies and act as the liaison between the Tool Room, Quality, and Engineering departments. Order necessary equipment to secure the best prices from approved sources and oversee safety compliance with Federal/Provincial regulations. Participate in continuous improvement programs and attend scheduled trainings to address area problems.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized Tool and Die apprenticeship
- 10 plus years of related experience
- Experience reading and interpreting detailed information from blueprints and drawings
- Comprehensive knowledge of all equipment and tools related to trade
- General forklift and overhead crane experience
- Thorough technical understanding of Stamping and Assembly equipment
- Working knowledge of all measuring equipment
- Experience in a manufacturing environment which includes stamping and assembly
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and general computer applications
- Good command of the English language both verbal, written and the ability to communicate to the customer
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines on a timely basis
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with information, files and records that are confidential and must not divulged without the consent of management
- Consistently uses strong attention to detail and judgment skills when making decisions related to the tooling process, quality and the observance of personnel
- Must have Toolbox/Tools to carry out Tool and Die tasks
