Job Summary
Coordinate daily department activities to meet quality, production, and safety goals while leading a team dedicated to the forestry industry. Guide the team through continuous improvement initiatives and proactively lead efforts to achieve productivity objectives. Respond to quality issues by determining root causes and implementing solutions, ensuring compliance with health and safety policies. Coach employees, conduct performance reviews, and manage recruitment and onboarding for new hires. Address personnel issues and significant operational concerns directly with management and HR. Assist in documentation for disability claims, WSIB claims, and return-to-work plans. Engage actively in Lean Manufacturing and quality improvement initiatives while maintaining on-floor presence.
Required Qualifications
- Dedicated Weekend Shift: 6:00am - 6:00pm , Friday - Sunday
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and motivate a team
- Adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands, and able to handle frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
- High level of prioritizing, job/task planning and organizing abilities
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively and efficiently
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) and able to mediate difficult interpersonal situations
- Knowledgeable in health and safety legislation
- Proficient in the use of D365, Dayforce and Microsoft Office suite
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly to team members
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in training, mentoring or developing team members
- Ability to address and resolve interpersonal or team conflicts effectively
