Job Summary
Supervise crews in construction and maintenance activities for T&D substations, coordinating staffing, materials, and equipment with Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors. Analyze historical inspection, maintenance, and operational data to establish appropriate equipment requirements and input findings directly into the company database. Enforce a safety-first culture by directing safety awareness initiatives, monitoring performance, and resolving grievances per local union contracts. Provide ongoing feedback, conduct comprehensive performance reviews, and model a customer-first attitude to quickly resolve issues. Requires off-hour on-call responsibility on a rotational basis, subject to shift work including weekends and emergency restoration assignments.
Required Qualifications
- No immigration-related sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, O-1, J-1, TN, E-3)
- Leadership for construction, maintenance, and repair of substation equipment
- Analysis of historical inspection, maintenance, test, and operational data to establish appropriate maintenance requirements
- Promotion and enforcement of a safety-first work environment and positive safety culture
- Supervision of crews in construction and maintenance activities for T&D substations
- Coordination of maintenance and construction of assigned assets including staffing, materials, and equipment
- Reliability and condition of substation assets
- Accurate input of maintenance data directly into company database
- Setting clear expectations and providing ongoing feedback to employees regarding performance
- Addressing performance issues
- Conducting comprehensive performance reviews
- Proper application of local union contracts and agreements
- Resolution of grievances and concerns in a timely and complete manner
- Direction of safety awareness and compliance initiatives within the group
- Monitoring of safety performance
- Role modeling of a customer-first attitude
- Quick resolution of customer issues by collaborating with employees and other departments
- Off-hour on-call responsibility on a rotational basis
- Availability for weekend shifts
- Working knowledge of methods, work practices, and procedures regarding the safe construction, operation, and maintenance of electric T&D facilities and infrastructure at both secondary and primary operating voltages
- Detailed knowledge of power system maintenance and operation
- Strong knowledge of computers and related technology with the ability to learn and utilize available information technologies
- Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent related experience
- Five (5) or more years of related experience
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license
- Availability to work emergency restoration assignment as required
- Availability to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
- Ability to work outside, in varied conditions and terrain including adverse weather conditions
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, climb stairs, and complete paperwork
- Ability to drive to various job site locations and customer premises
- Ability to work with computers for long periods of time
- Ability to work long hours in response to outage situations and shift coverage requirements
