Supervisor, Starship Heatshield - Night Shift

Job Summary

Supervise shop floor activity and lead a team of ~20 technicians, managing daily schedules, workflow, and performance reviews. Continuously improve process efficiency and productivity by auditing safety, reviewing work instructions for engineering changes, and developing training programs to meet mission needs. Organize and track deliverables across multi-shift schedules while monitoring labor hours, overtime, and team cooperation. Ensure product quality conformance, maintain tooling inventory, and foster departmental collaboration. Work the night shift (5:00AM–4:30PM) in a fast-paced aerospace environment requiring physical stamina, with a requirement for U.S. citizenship or permanent residency to comply with ITAR export regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years in a leadership position
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, operations, or project management
  • Must be able to work all shifts, extended hours and/or weekends as needed
  • Night shift: 5:00AM - 4:30PM
  • Day shift: 5:30PM - 4:00AM
  • Lifting up to 25lbs. unassisted, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing stooping, stretching and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
  • Stand: Up to 10 hours per day
  • Sit: Up to 1 hour per day
  • Push/Pull: Up to 50lbs. (unassisted) 30 minutes to 1 hour per day
  • Overhead reach: Up to 6 hours per day
  • Walk: Up to 6 hours per day
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 25lbs. (unassisted) 30 minutes to 1 hour per day
  • Climb (ladder/stairs): Up to 6 hours per day
  • Kneel/Crouch: Up to 6 hours per day
  • Upper body twist: Up to 6 hours per day
  • Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees Up to 10 hours per day
  • Candidate must be capable of safely working at heights (up to 500ft), using an air purifying respirator, and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee (or eligible for required authorizations)
  • Must complete a pre-employment questionnaire and/or physical to confirm capabilities

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with applying lean manufacturing principles, efficiency methods
  • 10+ years of experience in final assembly and production in a fast paced aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Failure Mode Effects Analysis
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with engineering and production
  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment
  • Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy
  • Prior leadership experience either military or aerospace industry
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
