Job Summary

Oversee daily operations of the museum store, ensuring operational readiness and adherence to retail standards. Responsibilities include opening/closing procedures, cash handling, inventory management, replenishment, fulfillment coordination, loss prevention, and ensuring POS accuracy and adherence to financial controls. Lead and train frontline staff, coach team members on procedures and policy compliance, and maintain organized back-of-house operations with strong merchandising standards. Coordinate fulfillment, back-of-house workflows, and inventory accuracy; identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, consistency, and inventory management. Maintain a clean, visually consistent retail environment aligned with museum standards; support operations during special events, exhibitions, promotions, and high-volume periods. Promote DEIAB through inclusive leadership and guest service. Qualifications emphasize retail operations experience, POS proficiency, inventory and loss prevention expertise, and the ability to work in a fast-paced museum retail setting.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of progressive retail operations experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Strong experience with daily retail operations (opening/closing, cash handling, inventory, replenishment, fulfillment workflows)
  • Proficiency with POS systems; Shopify, Square, or similar platforms preferred
  • Experience supporting inventory control, stock organization, merchandising execution, and loss prevention
  • Ability to follow and enforce retail policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, reliability, and operational follow-through
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills; able to address operational challenges professionally
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize competing needs, and adapt in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and special museum events
  • Commitment to DEIAB and creating welcoming experiences for guests and team members
  • Passion for supporting efficient retail operations aligned with the Museum’s mission
