Job Summary
Direct daily activities of technicians and electricians, assigning tasks, evaluating performance, and managing shift schedules for complex construction, maintenance, repair, testing, and operation of electric transmission and distribution systems. Oversee continuous inspection, installation, and maintenance of substation equipment including transformers, breakers, switches, and relays. Diagnose complex electrical issues, provide guidance during repairs or upgrades, and respond to emergency conditions to support public safety and system reliability. Monitor employee activities, enforce conformance to established work practices, and coordinate work with other departments for scheduling construction and maintenance. Counsel employees on performance standards, implement training in established work methods, and administer the Regional Safety Plan.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5-7 years' related work experience in an electrical field
- knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment, and tools
- An advanced level of knowledge and experience in operations, repair, and construction of assigned Transmission and Distribution area
- Familiar with Underground wire pulling, TBodies, Splices
- Advanced level knowledge of principles and operation of electric transmission and distribution systems
- Able to learn various computer applications (CREWS, SAP, POWERON, GIS) and Microsoft Office
- Able to read, alter, and communicate complex prints and specifications to personnel
- Demonstrated knowledge of applied electricity including AC and DC circuits and equipment
- Effective leadership skills to communicate with and direct work of others to ensure safety and produce satisfactory work results
