Job Summary
Oversee inmate workers across two sewing plants to supervise production of inmate clothing and other sewing products. Train and direct inmates, monitor machine operation for quality and efficiency, and perform routine machine setup, maintenance, and defect inspection. Responsible for matching fabric pieces, cutting, attaching fasteners/appliques, and ensuring conformance to standards. Lead with strong people skills, uphold safety and quality control, and coordinate with production management to maintain steady workflow and output.
Required Qualifications
- High school/GED
- Three (3) years of experience in sewing plant
- Prefer one-year supervisory experience
- Good verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
- Basic math skills
- Reading comprehension
- Proficient in operating sewing machines
- Ability to assemble parts of a garment
- Self-starter
- Ability to foster teamwork
- Detail-oriented
- Handle stress and conflict resolution skills
