Job Summary
Oversee the daily operation of a generating unit or plant and supervise a team of operators and maintenance personnel. Coach and develop employees, ensure safety and environmental compliance, implement and update plant operating procedures, coordinate with corporate trading/load dispatching, and pursue thermal efficiency improvements while controlling costs. Build cross-department relationships with Administration, Engineering, and Maintenance to meet generation objectives and maintain plant performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an applicable field or equivalent combination of plant operations experience and education
- Minimum of five years of operations experience in a power plant or similar industrial facility
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coach and provide feedback and collaborate with other departments
- Ability to make timely decisions during critical plant conditions
- Basic computer skills including e-mail and word processing
