Job Summary
Supervise EVS technicians by assigning work, developing schedules, and ensuring completion to standard while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly patient care environment. Manage staffing assignments to avoid missed work or unnecessary premium pay, confirm timekeeping accuracy, and uphold departmental policies and collective bargaining agreements. Conduct daily rounds on staff, nurses, and patients to verify service quality, inspect room cleanliness upon discharge, and address patient requests or service recovery needs. Provide training, coaching, and performance management including evaluations and progressive discipline, while resolving interpersonal conflicts and assisting with hiring and orientation. Submit maintenance work orders, audit equipment and chemical storage, and partner with other departments to improve patient care throughput and departmental performance.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 5 years of lead or supervisory experience
- 2 years of lead or supervisory experience with an Associate's degree
- 1 year of lead or supervisory experience with a Bachelor's degree
- Customer service focus
- Proficient skills in English language: reading, writing, verbal
- Ability to manage, prioritize, and follow through all assigned tasks
- Ability to self-manage
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, ability to learn and operate various software programs
- Excellence attendance, punctuality and preparedness for work
- Ability to train and develop staff
- Ability to work with highly diverse population
- Ability to give and receive feedback in a constructive manner
- Compliance with Code of Conduct, Respect in the workplace and Applicable policies, procedures and agreements related to position, department or OHSU as a whole
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs

Desired Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor's degree
- CHEST Certification
- Lead or supervisory experience in a hospital setting
- Experience in Environmental Services, Housekeeping, or Custodial Services
- Experience in a high volume customer service environment
- Epic experience
- Previous experience in performance improvement tools such as lean, continuous quality improvement, etc
- Experience in academic healthcare or other matrix organizations
- Experience in union environment
