Job Summary
Direct day-to-day supervision of ophthalmic technicians, patient coordinators, and professional staff in support areas including visual fields, photography, and echography. Adjust daily schedules based on patient flow and staffing needs while responding to clinical demands to maintain efficient patient utilization. Perform duties as a functioning ophthalmic technician when required and schedule weekly time in clinical departments to observe patient flow and maintain clinical skills. Mentor assigned staff, provide training opportunities, and identify development needs to ensure continued competency. Establish and assess internal controls, ensure compliance with University policies, and maintain a strong understanding of clinical information systems supporting technical functions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certifications COA and/or COT
- BLS - Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of business and management principles
- Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations
- Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan
- Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others
- Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others
