Supervisor of Patient Access -Full Time-Days

Job Summary

Monitor and coordinate the daily activities of Patient Access personnel to produce successful outcomes, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and governmental standards. Maintain payroll time records, conduct audits of employee work for data accuracy, and prepare performance reports for leadership. Interview applicants, provide training on policies and systems, and facilitate monthly department meetings. Assist with coverage shortages and cross-train staff across all Patient Access areas. Provide leadership and support to address issues, collaborate on continuous process improvements, and complete yearly evaluations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Associate degree in Business or Healthcare Administration
  • HBI or CHAA and CAM Certification
  • 3 years of hospital Patient Access experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute
  • Ability to coordinate staffing and other supervisory activities
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve and multi-task
  • Ability to be multi-skilled with the ability to appropriately handle complexity and stress with the changing needs of the patients, families, visitors, and the Health System
  • Knowledge of insurance and collection of payments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge in all applications
  • Ability to maintain skill set in all registration applications, functions, and responsibilities
  • Ability to communicate orally, see, and hear to collect information
  • Dexterity to operate office equipment
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, and pull file drawers to file records and reports
  • Ability to transport patients and assist with baggage
  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA)

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Business or Healthcare Administration
  • Demonstrated customer service skills to a variety of customers from different cultural and economic backgrounds
