Job Summary
Manage the daily operation of the District #86 Department of Nutrition Services, overseeing four operating units and sixteen satellite locations with an annual budget of $6.0 million. Direct procurement of food supplies, monitor vendors, and audit invoices to ensure cost specifications are honored. Supervise the USDA Commodity Allocation program by determining commodity quantities based on inventory levels and coordinating deliveries between units and central storage. Oversee training for eighty lunchroom supervisors across sixteen locations and coordinate department catering. Lead menu planning and ensure district software and menu compliance at the building level. Maintain inventory of all walk-in coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas. Ensure adherence to all federal and state regulations for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in institutional management, food and nutrition, hotel/restaurant management, or suitably related field is preferred
- Must have a minimum of two years of progressive management experience in an institutional setting
- Experience in these areas in an institutional food service setting is desirable
- Knowledge of and understanding of quantity food production is necessary
- Experience in computer applications is required
- Knowledge of industry software is preferred
- Must have the ability to comprehend, apply, and ensure adherence to all federal and state regulations associated with the operation of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with all constituencies of the school district
