Job Summary
Plan, coordinate and supervise the interscholastic athletic program and other student extracurricular activities. Supervise and evaluate coaches and related staff; recruit and hire a diverse pool of qualified coaches and advisors. Ensure compliance with applicable laws (including Title IX/VI) and district policies; develop and manage budgets; organize athletic events, transportation, equipment, and yearbooks. Promote a code of conduct and ethics for athletes; collaborate with DEI initiatives to ensure equitable access to athletics and activities. Oversee health and safety protocols, oversee wellness facilities, coordinate non-athletic extracurricular activities (clubs/activities), and support contract-related discussions during negotiations. Maintain strong communication with coaches, parents/caregivers, and other stakeholders; provide leadership in safety, equipment inspections, and program development.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university (preferred concentration in physical education, sport management, or allied field)
- Massachusetts certification as supervisor/director preferred
- experience as head coach or physical education teacher required
- knowledge of interscholastic athletic program operations and MIAA requirements
- strong organizational and communication skills
- familiarity with federal and state statutes and regulations (e.g., Title IX/VI)
