Job Summary
The Mine Shift Supervisor will coordinate and direct mining activities across all active loading areas during the assigned shift, ensuring safe, efficient production aligned with the mine plan and targets. Lead frontline supervision of Mine Technicians and equipment operators, maintain safe working conditions, optimize loading and haulage performance, manage workforce activities, and respond to issues impacting production. Key responsibilities include leading safety meetings and inspections, incident management and reporting, coordinating production to meet targets, monitoring equipment productivity and belt/haul metrics, coordinating with operations, technical services, crushing, and contractors, conducting performance evaluations and coaching, managing attendance and shift line-outs, and completing payroll and operational documentation. Required skills include extensive open-pit mining experience, copper mining background, familiarity with MineStar and SAP, strong leadership and communication, problem-solving and analytical abilities, attention to detail, English fluency, and a valid driver's license. The role is based at Pinto Valley, near Miami, AZ, with work performed predominantly in the field (approximately 80% field, 20% office) and requires pre-employment medical, drug/alcohol testing, background checks, and potential physical examinations.
Required Qualifications
- 10–15 years of mining experience, preferably in open pit operations
- Strong knowledge of drill, blast, load, and haul mining processes
- Previous experience in a copper mining operation
- Experience supervising mine production crews in a mining environment
- Experience using fleet management systems such as MineStar or similar platforms
- Experience with SAP or similar purchasing programs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify operational issues and implement effective solutions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
- Valid driver's license
