Job Summary
Supervisor, Medical Coding role overseeing revenue-cycle coding operations, providing leadership and training to staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of coding and claims resolution, and ensuring compliance with coding standards and healthcare regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing coding abstraction, pre-bill coding edits, and provider relationships, analyzing data to identify improvements, and preparing reports. Requires Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), 2 years coding experience, and professional coding credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CMC); strong communication, supervision, and problem-solving skills; knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, and regulatory requirements; and ability to lead teams in a healthcare setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years of coding experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS required
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required
- Certification in RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CMC required upon hire
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated working knowledge of CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM.
- Active medical coding credential with AHIMA as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or PMI certified as CMC.
- 1-2 years billing office experience, at least 1 year of supervisory experience
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage revenue cycle activities, coding accuracy, productivity, and provider relationships
