Job Summary

Oversee the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, including damp, mould, and condensation inspections, treatments, and remedial works across occupied and void social housing properties. Conduct regular site visits to monitor quality, progress, and compliance while coordinating operatives and subcontractors across joinery, plastering, plumbing, and ventilation. Diagnose building defects and underlying causes, allocate resources to meet contractual timescales, and ensure all activities adhere to health and safety standards. Act as a key point of contact for residents, managing complaints and communicating work details professionally. Full UK driving license required; 40-hour week with out-of-hours rotation available. Based in Glasgow.

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant trade background, preferably in joinery, plastering, plumbing, roofing, ventilation or general property maintenance
  • Experience working within repairs and maintenance, social housing or occupied domestic properties
  • Practical knowledge and experience of damp, mould, condensation, water ingress and common building defects
  • Previous experience in a supervisory, team leader or working foreperson role
  • Ability to diagnose building and maintenance issues and coordinate appropriate remedial works
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements, including risk assessments, COSHH and safe working practices within occupied properties
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage professionally and sensitively with residents
  • Ability to lead and supervise operatives while remaining hands on and carrying out practical trade duties where required
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and monitor work through to completion
  • Competent using mobile devices, digital systems and job management software to record and monitor works
  • Full UK driving license
  • Entitlement to work within the UK
  • Aged over 21
  • Held your licence over 3 months
  • Less than 9 points on licence
  • Ability to work an out of hours (OOH) rota

Desired Qualifications

  • SSSTS or SMSTS qualification
  • Asbestos Awareness qualification
  • COSHH Awareness qualification
  • Training or qualification in damp, mould, condensation or building pathology
  • Face fit testing and respiratory protective equipment (RPE) awareness
  • First Aid qualification
  • Experience working within housing associations, local authorities or other social housing environments
  • Knowledge of relevant housing standards, statutory requirements and contractual response times relating to damp, mould and condensation
