Job Summary

Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations, personnel, and production activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution of upstream processes including media preparation, harvesting, and process monitoring. Supervise teams to execute procedures using standard operating procedures and batch records while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and GMP requirements. Manage employee performance through coaching, reviews, and retention initiatives, and author, review, and maintain critical documentation such as SOPs, batch records, and validation protocols. Lead deviation investigations, CAPA activities, and cross-functional collaborations with QA, Engineering, and Project Management to drive continuous improvement and regulatory readiness. Ensure all team members are fully trained and compliant before entering the production floor. Day shift 7am-7pm on a 2-2-3 rotation; 100% onsite at Harmans, MD.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a Scientific, Engineering, or Biotech field
  • Bachelor's degree in a Scientific, Engineering, or Biotech field
  • High School Diploma or Associate Degree
  • 4–6 years of experience in upstream biologic production processes under Good Manufacturing Practice compliance
  • 6–8 years of experience in upstream biologic production processes under Good Manufacturing Practice compliance
  • 8–10 years of experience in upstream biologic production processes under Good Manufacturing Practice compliance
  • Experience in mammalian or microbial cell culture
  • Solid experience with large-scale centrifuges, washers, and autoclaves
  • Ability to apply scientific and technical knowledge to solve routine production challenges
  • Ability to operate equipment effectively
  • Ability to support manufacturing operations
  • Ability to maintain accurate GMP documentation
  • Ability to include batch records, SOPs, deviations, summary reports, and related manufacturing records
