Job Summary
Perform and report clinical laboratory testing on patient samples, including extractions, library preparation, enrichments, and sequencing. Supervise team members to ensure accurate specimen handling, next-generation sequencing processes, and precise patient record maintenance. Select quality control materials for statistical process control, troubleshoot assays and equipment failures, and document corrective actions when test systems deviate from specifications. Assist in regulatory audits, support laboratory licensure, and train personnel on laboratory methods while monitoring non-licensed staff activities. Identify and resolve complex problems affecting test performance, notifying supervisors when issues cannot be immediately corrected. Work independently to support assay development and meet team goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in sciences or related discipline
- Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) license
- At least four years of CLS experience in a clinical laboratory environment
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Lead role
