Job Summary
Manage a Medical Technology team by assigning, training, and reviewing standardized laboratory tests while resolving technical problems and equipment issues. Maintain inventory and lean practices to keep the department within budget, ensuring full compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies through regular inspections and updated policies. Develop and review the quality control program, including proficiency testing, preventative maintenance, and environmental controls, while validating new methods and instruments. Lead staff through performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions to set clear expectations for behaviors and productivity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 4-6 years A minimum of four years of laboratory experience
- MLSASCP-Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent - ASCP - American Society for Clinical Pathology
- Knowledge in regulatory compliance in QC/QA and competency requirements
- Skilled in laboratory operations of the department and managing technical staff
- Good communication and customer relation skills to ensure patient safety and quality processes in the laboratory
- Ability to perpetuate teamwork
- Ability to organize and prioritize work within the department
- Ability to troubleshoot testing, equipment, and quality issues relative to testing in the area of oversight
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
