Job Summary
As a Culinary Supervisor at Banner Health, provide front-line leadership to food service staff in a hospital setting, organizing, supervising, and coordinating daily activities to meet patient, visitor, and staff needs. Direct recruitment, training, and ongoing development of staff; ensure compliance with company standards and County/State/JCAHO regulations; monitor service quality, patient satisfaction, and regulatory safety guidelines; manage inventory, par levels, and food production quantities, while controlling operating expenses and maintaining cost-effective operations. Requires High School diploma or GED and two+ years of supervisory experience in food services; strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills; ability to lead teams, and learn food handling regulations with certification tests (ServSafe preferred). Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; position may involve varied shifts including evenings and weekends in a 24/7 hospital environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Two or more years of experience in food services management or similar leadership role
- Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests (e.g., ServSafe)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to organize, lead and supervise work areas and teams
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Experience interviewing, hiring, and training staff
- Knowledge of OSHA and safety guidelines
- Budget and cost control awareness
- Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities
