Job Summary
Oversee the 24/7 daily operations of the central utility plant, including boilers, generators, and HVAC systems, ensuring efficient and compliant performance. Supervise a team of plant operators and technicians by assigning tasks, providing training, conducting performance evaluations, and enforcing safety protocols and operational procedures. Manage job schedules, coordinate with outside contractors, and assign work order tickets via CMMS while maintaining accurate documentation for regulatory compliance. Lead efforts to optimize utilities consumption, plan scheduled outages, and respond to emergency situations such as floods or fires. Perform quality control checks on preventative maintenance and conduct regular safety audits to ensure all equipment remains safe and operational.
Required Qualifications
- High School or Trade/vocational School graduate
- 5 years of relevant experience
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience
- Operations Engineer II (OE2) or Unlimited Heating, Piping, and Cooling (S2) License
- Ability to obtain OE2 or S2 License within 12 months of employment
- Hands-on experience in performing troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of all types of HVAC and Environmental Controls Systems
- Experience with AHU distribution systems
- Experience with VAV Systems
- Experience with Medical Gas/Vacuum Systems
- Experience with FCU Systems
- Experience with Pumps
- Experience with Heat Exchangers
- Experience with Chillers
- Experience with Boilers
- Experience with Steam specialties
- High pressure steam experience
- Building automation experience
- Prior use of a computerized preventative maintenance program
- Knowledge of local and state codes
- CT Backflow Prevention Certification
- Universal Refrigeration License
- CT Heating, Piping & Cooling Operating Engineer License (OE2)
- CT Heating, Piping, Cooling License (S2 or S1)
- Ability to obtain CT Backflow Prevention Certification, Universal Refrigeration License, OE2, or S2/S1 within 12 months of employment
