Job Summary
Supervise and oversee daily import/export operations, including customs clearance, shipping documentation, cargo movement, and regulatory compliance. Lead and manage Team Leaders and operational staff to ensure accurate and timely execution of all shipment activities while monitoring departmental workload and performance metrics. Handle escalations involving customers, carriers, vendors, and operational exceptions, ensuring adherence to U.S. Customs, FMC, DOT, and TSA requirements. Review operational procedures, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and profitability. Assist with business development efforts, including customer onboarding and account retention, while conducting employee coaching, training, and performance evaluations. Coordinate communication between customers, overseas offices, carriers, and internal departments to maintain service standards.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and organization skills
- Positive attitude, and the ability to multi-task and calmly handle quickly changing priorities under tight deadlines
- Great attention to details
- Minimum 3+ years of Ocean Import experience with previous experience in a Team Lead or Supervisory position
- Must be flexible with work schedule
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Great computer skills (Microsoft Word & Excel, Outlook)
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate or significant or relevant or appropriate working experience
- Must be able to work with customers, vendors, and outside organizations
